I am writing while listening to Abbey Road by The Beatles. Nigel Adkins was sacked by Southampton on Friday. After 2 successive promotions and going unbeaten in their last 5 league games, which currently leaves the Saints 3 points clear of the relegation zone, I must admit I didn't see that one coming. Such is modern life in football though. Whether new manager Mauricio Pochettino will be able to keep them in the Premier League or not remains to be seen.
Premiership Predictions is back for 2013. Headline fixtures this weekend include the London derby between Chelsea and Arsenal, while Spurs will be hoping to complete a rare double against league leaders Manchester United. While at the bottom of the table Newcastle v Reading will be a pretty crucuial tie. It is 3 points for the correct scoreline and 1 point for the correct result. Fixtures are on the left and predicted scores are on the right.
FIXTURES (3.p.m unless stated)
Saturday 20/01/2013
Liverpool v Norwich City 2-1
Man City v Fulham 3-0
Newcastle v Reading 1-1
Swansea v Stoke City 0-0
West Ham v QPR 2-1
Wigan v Sunderland 1-2
West Brom v Aston Villa (5.30.p.m) 3-1
Sunday 20/01/2013
Chelsaea v Arsenal (1.30.p.m) 2-1
Spurs v Man.United (4.p.m) 1-1
Monday 21/01/2013
